Pro-life organizations come together to support Personhood in Wisconsin

BROOKFIELD, Wisc., Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pro-Life Wisconsin has officially united with Personhood USA to expand its reach throughout the state in an effort to bring forth a consistent message and plan of action for the personhood movement. This collaboration is part of a growing effort to protect human life at all stages of development without exceptions. The organizations will work side by side to educate the public on the personhood movement, motivate political action, and pass statewide legislation in Wisconsin, particularly through the most recent bill introduced to the Wisconsin State Assembly. Personhood USA's State Partnership Program includes state affiliates in Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama; and now includes Pro-Life Wisconsin as the first state associate.

On August 16, Wisconsin Representative André Jacque introduced the Wisconsin Personhood Amendment, which would amend Section 1 of the state constitution to read: "All people are equally free and independent, and have certain inherent rights; among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; to secure these rights, governments are instituted, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. As applied to the right to life, the terms "people" and "person" shall apply to every human being at any stage of development." It removes the qualifier "born" so that it includes babies in the womb. If approved by the state legislature, it will be referred to a popular referendum.

Pro-Life Wisconsin seeks to end all violence toward preborn children at all stages of development and in all circumstances.
