Priya™, the Personal Fertility Sensor to Help Women Conceive, Is Selected for Digital Health Pilot Program
Prima-Temp's product chosen from hundreds nationwide
BOULDER, Colo., Oct. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Prima-Temp, the company that has patented wireless, continuous temperature monitoring, announced today it was one of eight digital health companies chosen from a nationwide selection process to participate in a pilot program with top healthcare institutions. The pilot will focus on Priya™, the company's personal fertility sensor, designed to help a woman get pregnant - www.priyaring.com.
Prima-Temp Inc., headed by CEO Dr. Lauren Costantini, has developed a product that monitors continuous core body temperature, one of the most reliable indicators of female fertility. "Priya has well-accepted technology," Dr. Costantini told the audience at the 2015 Prime Digital Health Challenge. "Priya is truly effortless, discreet, and precise. When a woman is trying to get pregnant, she simply inserts the sensor that automatically sends data to the Priya app on her phone, then notifies her when she is most fertile."
Hundreds of digital health enthusiasts filled the Denver Art Museum's Ponti Hall on the evening of September 30th. They gathered for Prime Health's Digital Health Challenge, the largest event in Colorado digital health this year. In a "Shark Tank" setting, 17 different healthcare payors and providers heard pitches from the CEO of each company, then bid on the opportunity to host a pilot program for that company's digital health product.
Prima-Temp was seeking a 20-subject pilot to test customer preference of Priya when compared to traditional methods of ovulation detection, which are inaccurate, inconvenient, and costly. Priya may help couples avoid costly fertility treatments, including in vitro fertilization/IVF.
Kaiser Permanente, Denver Health, Aetna Health, and University of Colorado Health all bid to host the Prima-Temp pilot. The pilots will be funded by the Colorado Health Foundation, which had generously donated $150,000 to Prime Health for the event.
