PrivacyStar Launches Lookup+ iPhone Application
Privacy Solution Provides Best in Class Directory Assistance, Number Look-up and Complaint Filing
CONWAY, Ark., June 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- PrivacyStar, makers of smartphone applications that enable users to take control of their mobile phone, today announces the availability of its iPhone application, Lookup+ by PrivacyStar, which is now available in the Apple App Store. Lookup+ by PrivacyStar provides several features including an intelligent directory assistance to search for businesses, consumers and categories, its popular caller lookup to identify unfamiliar numbers and complaint filing to allow users to report telemarketing and debt collection violations directly to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Lookup+ by PrivacyStar application is available for $0.99 at the Apple App Store: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/privacystar/id493349938?mt=8
"The Lookup+ application offers the highest quality features available by utilizing state of the art techniques along with our best in class database to provide our users with leading industry tools for privacy protection on their iPhone," said Jeff Stalnaker, CEO of PrivacyStar. "In addition, unlike other directory assistance solutions such as 411 that charge $2.00 per lookup, all of our features are unique within the industry as we never track or sell data from our location based services and never download and share our users contacts."
When using the Lookup+ directory assistance feature, enter the name of a business, individual or category. Lookup+ then uses proprietary technology to provide the address and phone number along with a mapping function from the user's current location. Alternatively, the user may also simply call the number that appears with the search result directly from inside the application. PrivacyStar does not use or sell location based data or search requests for marketing and advertising purposes.
Upon receiving a call from an unfamiliar number, use the caller lookup feature to type in the number and identify the name that is associated. The user then has the option to call the number back, add to contacts or report the number as a telemarketer or debt collector to the FTC directly inside the application.
The Lookup+ complaint filing feature allows people on the Do Not Call Registry who are still receiving telemarketing calls or being harassed by fraudulent debt collectors, to file complaints directly to the Federal Trade Commission. From inside the application, users key in the caller name, phone number and any notes they would like to include about the complaint. Individuals are also prompted to check a box regarding the specific nature of their complaint such as "called before 8am or after 9pm" or "call was a recorded message." The data is then fed directly into Consumer Sentinel, the secure database available to more than 1,800 law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad for consumer protection purposes.
