The dinner will be at Guastavinos on March 31st from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, followed by an after party until 1:00 AM. The dinner is part of a series of events in the US and UK celebrating the conservation work of Tusk and its partners. Prince William hosted an event the evening of December 8th in recognition of Tusk and United for Wildlife at the British Consulate residency to kick off the anniversary year.
On March 31st, NYT bestselling author Jodi Picoult will speak about her experience doing research for her recent #1 bestseller LEAVING TIME, a poignant mother and daughter story told through the eyes of an elephant researcher. Picoult, a supporter of Tusk, is an outspoken voice for conservation and the fight against the illegal wildlife trade.
Zain Verjee, journalist and former CNN Anchor, a passionate supporter of conservation in Africa, will host the event.
The Tusk USA dinner will honor Jack Jones, author of the children's book, Chizi's Tale. The book tells the inspirational story of an abandoned baby black rhino, Chizi, and the brave family who gave him a second chance at life. 100% of the proceeds of the book support Tusk.
Auction items at the dinner will include a photograph by the UK's best selling wildlife photographer David Yarrow. The extraordinary photo "Big" of elephants in Amboselli, Kenya will be part of a live auction. Tusk, for which Yarrow is the affiliated photographer, receives 10% of sales from all David's prints and books.
For the past quarter of a century, Tusk has been investing in Africa's most successful conservation initiatives. Tusk's approach is to invest in agile and adaptable conservation projects that have the greatest impact on communities in Africa. These programs afford protection for 36 species and their habitats, while more than a million people benefit from greater security, infrastructure, healthcare, and livelihood options.
