Prince Lionheart to Give Away 1,000 bebePOD flex's to Help Protect Children
After the CPSC announced a recall reminder for the Bumbo Baby Seat, Prince Lionheart will replace 1,000 of the seats with their seat which has safety straps
SANTA MARIA, Calif., Dec. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --Protecting your baby from products is of the utmost concern to all parents, particularly when injuries are reported to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), and other regulatory agencies and recalls are announced.
Recently, the CPSC announced a recall reminder of Bumbo Baby Seats due to serious head injuries such as skull fractures and concussions. This is the second recall announcement. At the time of the 2007 recall announcement, CPSC was aware of 28 falls from the product, three of which resulted in skull fractures. CPSC and Bumbo International are now aware of at least 46 falls from Bumbo seats used on elevated surfaces occurring prior to the 2007 recall, resulting in 14 skull fractures, two concussions and one incident of a broken limb. To date, there have been an additional 50 reports of infants falling or maneuvering out of the seats.
In light of the latest warning involving Bumbo seats, Prince Lionheart is willing to swap out 1,000 Bumbo seats for the bebePOD flex with the dual strap system. Parents can ship their used Bumbo to the company and they will send them a bebePOD flex free of charge.
"Our company was founded on the core principle that products created for babies must be not only useful and innovative, but be created with the highest quality," said President and CEO Kelly Griffith. "Our main goal is to create quality products that make parents' lives easier and the lives of children secure and safe. It's disheartening to see products that have already been recalled come back on the market without the needed changes to be as safe as possible."
