ACWORTH, Ga., Dec. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Primrose Schools, a high-quality early education and care provider, experienced record-breaking fundraising in 2014 among its more than 285 schools across the country. Families, students and staff of local Primrose schools raised more than $500,000 for charities this year. Of the funds raised, $340,150 will be donated to Primrose Schools' national charitable partners Save the Children® and Reach Out and Read® through the company's not-for-profit organization, the Primrose Children's Foundation.
The Primrose Children's Foundation supports initiatives that advocate for children in the greatest need. Funding for the Primrose Children's Foundation, which combines the fundraising efforts of Primrose schools to create a greater positive impact, is raised primarily through unique Spring Fling events held annually at Primrose locations across the country. The events provide Primrose families the opportunity to celebrate spring while giving back to their communities and children in need.
"Primrose Spring Fling events have historically served as a meaningful way to engage our entire community in a common cause that supports our mission to forge a path to a brighter future for all children," said Jo Kirchner, president and CEO of Primrose Schools. "We are beyond proud of the momentum these events are gaining year over year and the collective impact we're making through our strategic partnerships with organizations like Save the Children and Reach Out and Read."
A portion of the proceeds from all school Spring Fling events go to the Primrose Children's Foundation to support Primrose Schools' national charitable partners, while another portion goes to local organizations of each school's choice. The initiative is part of the Primrose Promise™, Primrose Schools' corporate social responsibility program designed to fulfill the company's commitment to giving without expectation.
This year's record fundraising for the Primrose Children's Foundation will benefit Primrose Schools' newest charitable partner, Save the Children. The world's top independent charity for children in need, Save the Children has robust and impactful programs in the United States, such as child sponsorship and emergency preparedness, that provide children living in poverty with the skills and resources they need to succeed in school and in life.
The funding will also benefit Primrose Schools' longtime partner, Reach Out and Read, which focuses its efforts on promoting early literacy. Since its inception in 2005, the Primrose Children's Foundation has donated more than $1.4 million to Reach Out and Read, providing more than 275,000 books for at-risk children and families.
The top 2014 fundraising contributors to the Primrose Children's Foundation were Primrose School of Bee Cave, Primrose School of Shady Hollow and Primrose School of Southwest Austin – all located in Texas.
