ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The creative culinary team at one of Orlando's most popular restaurants is chomping at the bit to take part in the city's annual celebration of fine dining.
Primo at JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes will be serving up unique offerings at the 8th Annual Downtown Food & Wine Fest at Lake Eola Park scheduled for Feb. 27-28, 2016. The event features fresh fare from over 30 Orlando restaurants, plus tastings of 50 domestic and international wines. Live entertainment will top off the event in the heart of Downtown Orlando.
Joining the impressive lineup of restaurants at the event, Primo will showcase a menu with items including:
- Braised octopus skewers with marbled potatoes, Spanish piparra peppers, hot smoked paprika and sherry-herb vinaigrette
- Specialty sandwiches on a whole wheat or duck fat ciabatta. Diners will have their choice of eight meats including lamb pastrami, duck sausage, Tasso-style ham; seven cheeses including buffalo mozzarella, parmesan and goat; eight veggies — some grown in the restaurant's on-site garden — including tomatoes, house pickles and grilled onions; and eight sauces including house-made mustards, basil pesto and vinaigrettes
- Caccio Cavallo cheese melted over coals and served on crostini
- Banana caramel cake with a lemon-vanilla cake, caramel banana gelato, candied peanuts and salted caramel sauce
Led by co-owner and Executive Chef Melissa Kelly, Primo offers an ever-changing menu of Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is open 6-9:30 p.m. daily, making it a perfect place for Orlando visitors and locals alike to feast on fine fare with ingredients from the restaurant's organic garden. Kelly partnered with JW Marriott in 2003 to open Primo with the goal of serving fresh Italian cuisine based on her personal experiences. The home-grown Primo concept pioneered farm-to-fork dining in Orlando. Growing up on Long Island, her earliest cooking lessons took place in her Italian grandmother's kitchen. She later attended the Culinary Institute of America in New York and has worked at top restaurants throughout the country. Kelly is a two-time winner of the prestigious James Beard Foundation award for Best Chef in the Northeast. She is the first chef to win the regional best chef award twice.
The Orlando food festival is open noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016. Tickets are $15 per day for advanced online purchases and $20 per day at the door.
