Prime Therapeutics moves into new Eagan "home"
Phase 1 complete, Phase 2 underway; Nearly 400,000 square foot facility to eventually house four of Prime's Minnesota offices
EAGAN, Minn., Oct. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Prime Therapeutics LLC (Prime), a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) serving 22 Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans nationally, has officially completed the first phase of its new Eagan operations and IT facility. Approximately 1,000 personnel have moved in and now have new, state of the art workspaces just a few miles from their previous offices.
"Opening the first phase of our new operations headquarters building is an exciting step for our organization," said Jim DuCharme, Prime's president and CEO. "This building is comfortable and welcoming, and designed specifically for our workforce. Every decision was made with our current and future employees in mind – how they work, where they work, what they need to be most efficient and even ways we can help them stay well. I am excited and energized by this new space. This project has truly readied Prime for the future."
Situated on approximately 40 acres southeast of Interstate 494 and Dodd Road in Eagan – and adjacent to the Viking Lakes development, Phase 1 is 225,000 square feet of a nearly 400,000 total square foot facility. This phase will house most of Prime's IT staff plus the building's common space amenities. Some of the new building features include:
- a flexible, light-filled office environment, with numerous conference rooms and meeting space options to promote internal mobility and collaboration
- a complete meeting center featuring a 300+ seat auditorium for employee meetings and gatherings
- a fully-equipped fitness center and outdoor walking paths with views of Lake Shanahan
- a full-service cafeteria offering healthy, artisan food, a Caribou Coffee and visiting chain food options, with an expansive dining area and deck overlooking Lake Shanahan.
"We got our start in Eagan more than 20 years ago and we're proud to be able to continue calling Eagan home, so our employees can enjoy the many amenities in this developing area," said Brian Holmes, assistant vice president of strategic partnerships and real estate at Prime. "We set out to build an environment that increases workplace productivity, provides the flexibility to scale our operations for future growth and ultimately best addresses Prime's need for a world class facility for our employees – and I believe we achieved that."
"Strong businesses are the backbone of a successful community. Having companies like Prime Therapeutics continue to reinvest here is highly rewarding," says Eagan Mayor Mike Maguire. "Growing our high-tech workforce further builds on the vibrancy and energy of this area of Eagan and solidifies our strength, now and into the future."
According to the real estate developer United Properties, Prime's campus building – known as "Prime Landing" – is one of the largest office projects built in the Twin Cities area this year. Phase 2 of the project is expected to be ready for another wave of employee moves next summer with full completion in early 2020.
Currently, Prime employs more than 3,000 employees with more than 2,000 in Minnesota. Prime will retain its Bloomington, Minn. office space.
