Prime Therapeutics' Controlled Substance Drug Utilization Review program wins Case In Point Platinum Award in the Disease Management/Population Health category
ST. PAUL, Minn., May 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Prime Therapeutics, a leading pharmacy benefit manager, won Dorland Health's 2014 Case In Point Platinum Award for the best Disease Management/Population Health program. This annual awards program recognizes the most successful and innovative case management programs in 28 categories across the health care spectrum. Winning programs will be featured in the Case In Point Platinum Award Issue, May 2014 as well as the Platinum Award website.
Judges recognized Prime's Controlled Substance Drug Utilization Review (DUR) program as the best disease management/population health program in the Case Management – Managed Care category. The Controlled Substance DUR program, which is part of Prime's GuidedHealth® platform, helps health plans and physicians identify potential misuse and abuse of controlled substance medications. Doing so helps improve member health and reduce health care costs. The Controlled Substance DUR program has been implemented by most of Prime's clients, including Florida Blue whose positive results were featured in the submission.
"The Case In Point Platinum Award showcases the value that Prime's Controlled Substance DUR program brings to the health plans and members we serve," said Peter Wickersham, senior vice president, integrated care and specialty. "Prime is dedicated to developing and implementing innovative programs that help improve safety and lower overall cost of care for our members."
The editors of Case In Point conduct the competition to set the standard for sustained success in care coordination programs. Reviewing submissions from a variety of disciplines and settings, judges looked to honor programs that improved patient education and empowerment, wellness, quality of care management and cost containment.
