Centinela Hospital Medical Center, Chino Valley Medical Center and Sherman Oaks Hospital, all based in California, were honored as among the best hospitals in the nation by Truven. Prime Healthcare hospitals have earned this highly coveted recognition 36 times. Truven Health is a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the quality of healthcare.
"Unlike any other health system, Prime Healthcare is physician-driven and physician-led with a passionate dedication to quality and patient experience using evidence-based practices. We are honored to be recognized for the quality of our clinical care by this unbiased and peer-reviewed study," said Prem Reddy, MD, FACC, FCCP, Chairman, President and CEO of Prime Healthcare Services. "Congratulations to the physicians, nurses and employees at our hospitals for meeting the highest standards of quality care in the country. Our goal throughout Prime Healthcare is to always deliver award-winning, compassionate care."
The Truven Health Analytics "100 Top Hospitals" award winners for Prime Healthcare were: Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood, CA (fifth time recipient), Chino Valley Medical Center in Chino, CA (fifth time recipient), and Sherman Oaks Hospital in Sherman Oaks, CA, which received this recognition for the first time.
Centinela Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) was on the verge of bankruptcy in 2007, in an underserved community where four other hospitals were forced to close. CHMC cares for more uninsured and underinsured patients than any other hospital in the area. Over the years, Centinela Hospital has become a thriving community hospital, achieving national quality recognition from rating agencies such as Leapfrog, Healthgrades, and Becker's Hospital Review among others. The hospital is currently investing more than $80 million in improvements to further benefit the patients and community it serves.
Chino Valley Medical Center was acquired in bankruptcy in 2005, needing enormous investment in operations and infrastructure. After significant investments, Chino Valley has achieved outstanding quality and patient safety recognition from organizations including The Leapfrog Group, US News & World Report, and the National Research Corporation "Path to Excellence" award. The hospital provides the latest technology and services for improving lives including a da Vinci Robotic Surgery Unit and top-rated orthopedic and gastrointestinal care.
Sherman Oaks Hospital is a 153-bed nonprofit community hospital serving the needs of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. The hospital has grown to offer many award-winning programs such as a specialized wound care, hyperbaric medicine, an amputation prevention program (The Center for Reconstruction and Wound Healing), Stroke Care and a Geriatric Psychiatry program serving the unique needs of seniors. The team at Sherman Oaks made quality patient care its top priority, achieving national recognition from US News & World Report as a "Best Regional Hospital" and congressional recognition for outstanding and invaluable service.
"We are honored and humbled by this national award that reflects the tireless commitment of our physicians, nurses and staff to make Sherman Oaks Hospital one of the twenty best hospitals in the country and a benefit to every patient we serve," said Sunny Bhatia, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Sherman Oaks and Division I for Prime Healthcare. "We have had a transformative journey at Sherman Oaks Hospital and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it. This is a true testament to our staff and clinicians at Centinela, Chino Valley and Sherman Oaks for their dedication and commitment to ensuring quality patient care."
Based on the results of this year's study, if all Medicare inpatients received the same level of care as those treated in the award-winning facilities:
