Prime Healthcare Hospitals Earn "Top Performer on Key Quality Measures®" Recognition from The Joint Commission
ONTARIO, Calif., Nov. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Prime Healthcare announced today that 13 of its hospitals were named Top Performer on Key Quality Measures®, an annual report done by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in nation.
The hospitals in California – Centinela Hospital Medical Center (3 times), Encino Hospital Medical Center (4 times), Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center (3 times), Huntington Beach Hospital (3 times), La Palma Intercommunity Hospital (4 times), Montclair Hospital Medical Center (2 times), Paradise Valley Hospital (4 times), Shasta Regional Medical Center (4 times) and West Anaheim Medical Center (3 times); in New Jersey – St. Mary's Hospital (2 times); and in Texas – Harlingen Medical Center (2 times), Knapp Medical Center and Pampa Regional Medical Center.
These hospitals were recognized for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children's asthma, stroke, venous thromboembolism and perinatal care, as well as for inpatient psychiatric services and immunizations.

The 13 hospitals are among the 1,224 hospitals in the U.S. earning the distinction of Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. The ratings are based on an aggregation of accountability measure data reported to The Joint Commission during the 2013 calendar year.

Each of the hospitals that were named as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures must: 1) achieve cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures; 2) achieve performance of 95 percent or above on each and every reported accountability measure where there are at least 30 denominator cases; and 3) have at least one core measure set that has a composite rate of 95 percent or above, and within that measure set all applicable individual accountability measures have a performance rate of 95 percent or above.
In addition to being included in the release of The Joint Commission's "America's Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety" annual report, these hospitals will be recognized on The Joint Commission's Quality Check website (www.qualitycheck.org). The Top Performer program will be featured in the December issues of The Joint Commission Perspectives and The Source.
