Prime Healthcare Completes Acquisition of St. Joseph Medical Center and St. Mary's Medical Center, Both Located in Missouri
ONTARIO, Calif., Feb. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Prime Healthcare announced today that it has completed its acquisition of St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, and St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO, as well as other assets of Carondelet Health from Ascension Health. St. Joseph and St. Mary's medical centers are acute-care hospitals with 456 beds and 900 physicians on staff combined.

St. Joseph Medical Center, a 310-bed acute-care hospital, provides a wide range of services, including 24-hour Emergency Department, Joint and Spine Institute, Cardiac Surgery [Carondelet Heart Institute], Breast Cancer Center, Birthing Center/NICU and outpatient services. It has earned the Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for the treatment of stroke patients. It is also an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The Breast Center has earned recognition by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation from the American College of Radiology (ACR). St. Joseph has also earned the Magnet® designation three consecutive times from The American Nurses Credentialing Center for excellence in nursing services.
St. Mary's Medical Center, a 146-bed acute-care hospital, has a 24-hour Emergency Department, Accredited Chest Pain Center, Cardiac Surgery [Carondelet Heart Institute], Certified Stroke Center, Breast Center, Radiation Oncology, Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, Pain Center and the only Inpatient Rehabilitation Center between Blue Springs and Columbia, MO. It earned recognition as a 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the nation.
