Prime Benton County farmland set for Nov. 13 auction
BOSWELL, Ind., Nov. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Approximately 350 acres of highly productive Indiana farmland will be offered at auction Thursday, Nov. 13, with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company managing the event.
Bidders will gather at 6 p.m. at the Benton Country Club, in Fowler, for the auction, in which the land will be offered in three tracts of 106 acres, 84 acres and 160 acres.
"This is prime farmland, with very good soils in the heart one of Indiana's best farming areas, capable of producing excellent yields of corn and soybeans. So it's a good opportunity either for operators or for investors," said R.D. Schrader, president of the auction company. "Given the amount of contiguous land, it would appeal to someone who wants to buy the entirety either to farm or to lease. However, each tract can provide a productive farm for those who are looking for smaller amounts of land."
The predominant soil type is Chalmers silty clay loam. The land is located at the intersection of U.S. 41 and State Road 352 in Boswell. "In addition to being a great farming area, this farmland is only about a half hour from LaFayette, and about 40 minutes from Danville," said Schrader.
