PricewaterhouseCoopers Ranked No. 6 in the DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity(R)
Sixth Consecutive Year PwC Makes Top 50 List; PwC Also Recognized in Five of DiversityInc's Top 10 Specialty Lists
NEW YORK, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) announced today that it has been ranked No. 6 in the 2010 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity®. It is the sixth time that PwC has made the list and the third consecutive appearance in the top 10. The firm was also recognized in five of DiversityInc's Top 10 specialty lists, including No. 2 among Top Global Companies; No. 2 among Top Companies for Executive Women; No. 4 among Top Companies for GLBT Employees; No. 4 for Top Companies for Asians; and No. 5 among Top Companies for Recruitment and Retention.
A total of 449 companies participated this year, up 12 percent from last year. PwC is being recognized for its strength in areas including CEO Commitment, Human Capital, Corporate and Organizational Communications and Supplier diversity.
"By continuing to make investments in diversity and inclusion, even during this historic economic downturn, we're investing in our ability to deliver the best talent and highest value to our clients," says Bob Moritz, Chairman and Senior Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers. "We appreciate being ranked in the Top 10 of the DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity for a third straight year, yet we also recognize that our success in the marketplace hinges not only on our efforts, but even more importantly on our results."
PricewaterhouseCoopers' success, according to DiversityInc, was based on the firm's inclusive culture and its long list of development and diversity initiatives. Niloufar Molavi, Partner and Chief Diversity Officer, PricewaterhouseCoopers, accepted the award for PwC at a DiversityInc reception held this week in Washington, D.C., and PricewaterhouseCoopers will be featured in the June 2010 issue of DiversityInc Magazine.
"I have known and admired PricewaterhouseCoopers for as long as we've been in business. They are fiercely competitive and excel at creating an inclusive culture, branding themselves domestically and globally as diversity leaders, and -- with both of those factors in hand -- using diversity to drive their business to new levels," said Luke Visconti, Chief Executive Officer of DiversityInc.
"This list represents the businesses that treat diversity as an ethical, moral priority and a powerful business tool. Far too many companies are behind the curve and will find themselves in trouble in the next few years and decade," continued Visconti. "A diverse work force changes the character and the culture of a company. Thinking that diversity is merely a 'feel-good' or politically correct strategy without real impact will leave companies on the wrong side of history."
PwC's diversity web site, www.pwc.com/diversity, showcases the firm's diversity commitment, excellent work-flexibility programs and expansive mentoring and development initiatives.
For the past three years, PwC has been ranked No. 1 in Training magazine's "Training Top 125" annual ranking of organizations that excel at employee training and development. PwC has also consistently been named to FORTUNE's "100 Best Companies to Work For" list, and as one of Working Mother's "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers." In 2009, the firm was ranked No. 2 in the first-ever "Universum Global Top 50" employers index, a ranking of the world's most attractive employers, and in 2007 the firm won the "Catalyst Award" for its efforts to advance and retain women.
