Price Vision Group Leverages MedInformatix Practice Management and Electronic Medical Records Package to Fortify Documentation and Electronic Communication
Innovative Practice Streamlines Operations and Enhances Customer Service with Solution's Complement of Supporting Modules and Portals
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- In its Indianapolis marketing area, Price Vision Group is known for innovation. For more than a quarter of a century, the four-physician practice has set the standard for comprehensive eye care, as evidenced by the fact that it performed Indiana's first-ever laser procedure for the correction of myopia, and its continued implementation of the latest technology to perform LASIK, cornea transplants, cataract surgery and artificial iris implantation, among other services. It only made sense that Price Vision Group would demand an innovative electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management (PM) solution.
MedInformatix' PM and EMR solution fit the bill. In its most basic, out-of-the-box iteration, the system addresses all aspects of an ophthalmology practice's so-called backroom and daily operations including insurance claim remittance, patient and billing documentation and scheduling. Price Vision Group has found the MedInformatix solution particularly beneficial with respect to patient charts.
"The system truly excels in that regard," said Tony Sterrett, Price Vision Group's practice administrator. "Our doctors and technicians of course are required to complete necessary fields for each patient. Before the installation of the MedInformatix solution, lost charts and penmanship were both somewhat an issue."
Automating these and other essential practice functions has also resulted in sizable time savings via the solution's macros that simplify the inputting of information related to patient conditions, procedures and prescriptions. The system is highly intuitive, and is easily configured to generate a host of custom reports, dramatically curtailing Price Vision Group's paper usage. "Being electronic saves a few trees along the way, not to mention money otherwise spent on paper," Sterrett said.
In addition to MedInformatix' PM and EMR solution's "standard" functions, Price Vision Group highly leverages the system's e-Prescribing (eRx) module, which enables the practice to communicate with area pharmacies. In addition to markedly increasing the speed and accuracy of the prescription submission and filling process, the module has enabled Price Vision Group to receive a monetary bonus from the Federal Government, which encourages medical practices under its overall green initiative to utilize electronic, rather than paper-based communication.
Further maximizing Price Vision Group's investment in the MedInformatix solution is its integration of a third-party online patient portal as a bridge to the EMR function. The portal enables patients to complete initial "paperwork" online via encrypted communication, significantly reducing onsite waiting times for patients seeing doctors at the facility while increasing the clinic's overall efficiency, Sterrett said.
Price Vision Group has utilized the MedInformatix system for 12 years, further illustrating the practice's commitment to innovation. "We recognized the importance of EMR long before other practices even considered it," Sterrett said. "In addition to providing our patients with caring, cutting-edge services, we run a lot of clinical studies that require us to efficiently compile data. While it isn't always easy to quickly gather the data we need from the system, most other practices don't run such studies and therefore don't even worry about that."
As Price Vision Group and other ophthalmology practices implement additional technology innovations, MedInformatix is there to provide the necessary solutions and support to help their goals become reality.
