AK Steel Holding Corporation Analyst Notes
On April 15, 2014, AK Steel Holding Corporation (AK Steel) announced price increases for all of its stainless steel products, effective with shipments on May 4, 2014. For products including commodity sheep and strip; pipe and tube sheet and strip; and specialty sheet and strip, the increase will be achieved through a discount reduction of two percentage points. For all other stainless steel products, including automotive exhaust sheet and strip, prices will be raised by $40 per ton. POSCO Analyst Notes
On April 21, 2014, POSCO announced that the project it is participating in, called the Roy Hill project, successfully won project financing of $7.2 billion, the largest amount mining project financing to date. A total of 19 commercial banks from Korea, Japan, Europe and Singapore participated in the project financing. The Roy Hill project is an iron ore mining project in the Pilbara region of Northwestern Australia. The mine has high-quality iron ore reserves of approximately 2.3 billion tons, and it has been a popular investment for Asian steel companies.
