MARSHFIELD, Wis., April 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- PreventionGenetics today announced a partnership with the Little Zebra Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing access to clinical genetic testing for patients in the San Francisco Bay Area. The organization was founded by two physicians who specialize in making rare diagnoses and recognize the value of genetic testing in ending the diagnostic odyssey. The Little Zebra Fund offers financial assistance to qualified patients for genetic testing; funds must be requested by a healthcare provider.
The mission of PreventionGenetics is to deliver clinical genetic testing of the highest quality at fair prices with exemplary service to people around the world. "The mission of the Little Zebra Fund aligns with that of PreventionGenetics," stated James Weber, PhD, Founder and President of PreventionGenetics. "We are proud to partner with an organization that helps families work toward ending the diagnostic odyssey through financial assistance for genetic testing."
A longtime goal and focus of PreventionGenetics has been laboratory stewardship and reducing the cost of genetic testing. While these efforts have improved the ability for patients to gain access to clinical genetic tests, there are still many situations where patients cannot afford the genetic testing they need, particularly in cases when insurance denies a claim.
