--Experts Chris Freytag and Kris Carr Guide 4-Week Mind and Body Transformation Program--
NEW YORK, April 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Prevention magazine announced today the launch of its second annual "28-Day Transformation Challenge," featured in the May issue, on stands now. The month-long fitness and nutrition program, led by Prevention's Fitness Expert, Chris Freytag, and best-selling author, wellness expert and cancer thriver, Kris Carr, kicks off May 1, 2014, and participants can visit Prevention.com/28DayChallenge to sign up.
This year, participants will follow a fitness plan created by Freytag and receive motivation and wellness tips from Carr. The plan will also be fully integrated online and via mobile devices. Participants can stay constantly connected to the challenge via a free app from the iTunes App Store, ChallengeLoop, or by visiting ChallengeLoop.com/PreventionChallenge, where they can invite friends to join, keep track of goals and progress, and post photos and messages. Last year, more than 30,000 readers took part in the online community to stay connected and support one another.
Participants will receive free daily e-mails featuring tips and motivation from Carr, plus additional bonus material. Online users can also visit the Prevention Facebook page (Facebook.com/PreventionMagazine) every Tuesday at 12 noon ET throughout the month of May for live Q&A sessions with Freytag, using the hashtag #28FitDays.
The 28-day plan includes:
- Easy Guide to Eating Clean—Participants will commit to filling their fridges with whole, healthy foods, based on Prevention's simple clean eating recommendations. Participants will also find 30 amazing sugar smart recipes, inspired by the New York Times best-seller, The Sugar Smart Diet, by Anne Alexander. Each of these delectable recipes incorporate low-sugar, nutrient-dense, delicious foods, and are available at Prevention.com/28DayChallenge.
- 2½ Hours of Heart-Pumping Cardio Each Week—Readers are encouraged to log just 150 minutes of exercise weekly to help shed pounds, boost energy, and ward off disease. Exercise time can be divided by preference and schedule—whether it's a 30-minute brisk walk 5 times a week, a 90-minute hike on a Sunday, or a 60-minute Zumba class on a Wednesday night.
- 10-Minute WOWs—Strength training is incorporated into the plan via weekly WOWs (workouts of the week). Each week, readers receive four new total-body toning moves from Chris Freytag to do four times a week for 10 minutes to build lean muscle and rev metabolism. Download the full workouts and watch video demos of each move at Prevention.com/28DayChallenge.
- Setting a Weekly Intention—Each week, Kris Carr will set the theme for the week's intention, allowing readers to stay focused on their goals, even when their mind and body get tired.
