SAN DIEGO, April 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Nominations are now open for Corporate Directors Forum's annual Director of the Year awards, San Diego's prestigious tribute to outstanding performance and leadership in the boardroom. The Director of the Year awards will be held on Thursday, September 22nd at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla.
Honorees are nominated by their boardroom peers in the following six categories:
- Corporate Governance
- Corporate Citizenship
- Enhancement of Economic Value
- Corporate Governance, Non-for-Profit Board
- Companies in Transition
- Lifetime Achievement
Nominations will be accepted through June 1 at http://www.directorsforum.com/DOY16/nominations.php.
"Corporate governance is an incredibly dynamic and challenging field, and those who play an integral role in growing and nurturing San Diego companies should be recognized," said Jack Yelverton, Director of the Year co-chairperson and Senior Vice President of Aon. "We seek to award the highest performing directors who have made extraordinary contributions to our region's companies through their leadership."
Nominees may be from any industry but must reside in San Diego County or serve on a board of a company headquartered in San Diego. Awards are based on directors' recent achievements (except for the Lifetime Achievement award), and the purpose of the award is to pay tribute to their outstanding performance in the boardroom and behind the scenes.
