Prestige Care executive one of Provider magazine's "2014 Class of 20 to Watch"
Melanie Matthews recognized by the nation's premier senior living and skilled nursing publication
VANCOUVER, Wash., Jan. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Prestige Care Inc., a leader in exceptional senior living and skilled nursing care, is pleased to announce that Melanie Matthews, vice president of operations, has been recognized by Provider magazine as a member of the "2014 Class of 20 to Watch."
Each year, Provider honors 20 healthcare professionals who have the compassion and vision to make a lasting impact on senior living and skilled nursing. Provider reviewed submissions from across the country before selecting only 20 final honorees.
Matthews' dedication and leadership in promoting, implementing and practicing quality care throughout the organization earned her the prestigious acknowledgement. Under her supervision, many Prestige Care communities have earned national recognition from the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living through their National Quality Awards Program. Her efforts have also resulted in a reduction in staff turnover, improved resident satisfaction levels and reduced the need for hospital readmissions for patients and residents.
"Melanie's passion for promoting superior care is contagious," said Harold Delamarter, president of Prestige Care. "She has touched many lives during her career, acting with diligence and compassion in all that she does. Here at Prestige, she has already established a legacy of unfaltering dedication to resident well-being and professional development among her fellow staff."
In addition to her daily contributions to Prestige Care, Matthews acts as the Washington Health Care Association Board vice chair, where she works with the Department of Social and Health Services and other policy-making entities to unite care providers and oversight agents to improve quality care outcomes in the state. She also works with the Washington State Quality Improvement Organization on the Collaborative Project, which helps partner care providers together to share insight and industry-knowledge with one another.
Matthews continuously looks for ways to improve her organization and her own skills as a healthcare executive. As a member of the American Medical Directors Association, she works with others in her profession from across the country to drive excellence in patient care here locally. She also spends time with administrators, DONs, caregivers, residents, legislators and others to see where she can improve the quality of care for Prestige's residents and patients.
Matthews and nine of her fellow honorees are featured in Provider magazine's January issue. The next 10 will be featured in later issues this year.
