Press Ganey Honors Top-Performers at 2014 National Client Conference
Innovation Award, Inaugural Nurse of the Year Award, and Transparency Award Recipients Announced
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Press Ganey today announced the recipients of three prestigious awards, the Innovation Award, the inaugural Nurse of the Year Award and the Leaders in Transparency Award, at its 2014 National Client Conference in Orlando, Florida.
Dr. Vivian S. Lee, CEO of University of Utah Health Care, was awarded the Press Ganey Innovation Award, which recognizes individuals that have dedicated their career to improving the care experience. Under Dr. Lee's leadership, University of Utah Health Care has been at the forefront of leveraging transparency of costs, quality and patient experience data to engage physicians and improve care. Most notably, it was the first health care organization to post physician reviews on its web site, creating a strategic and competitive advantage that other organizations have since replicated. As a fierce advocate for reducing patient suffering, Dr. Lee has led University of Utah Health Care to be one of the top-performing organizations in the country for patient experience outcomes.
"The Innovation Award recognizes an accomplished leader who has been influential in advancing the health care industry," said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO of Press Ganey. "I cannot think of a more deserving recipient than Dr. Vivian Lee. She has been instrumental in not only leading University of Utah Health Care to success, but also in providing other health care facilities throughout the country with a roadmap to increase patient engagement and drive accountability."
Press Ganey also presented its inaugural Nurse of the Year Award to Robin Alvarado, nurse manager at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. The award recognizes the contributions of an outstanding direct-care nurse who has demonstrated commitment to care innovation, transformation and collaboration that supports an exceptional patient experience. Alvarado was honored for her superior leadership and commitment to providing compassionate, connected care to every patient in her unit.
In addition, Press Ganey presented the Leaders in Transparency Award to five innovative provider organizations. Recipients included University of Utah Health Care, Piedmont Healthcare, Wake Forest Baptist Health, INTEGRIS Health and Stanford Health Care, all of which implemented solutions to capture the voice of every patient and embrace transparency strategies. Undertaking initiatives to display individual physicians' patient experience scores and comments publicly, the organizations are delivering information their patients seek, improving patient engagement, while also building accountability among physicians and employees to advance the care experience.
"It is an honor to recognize the efforts and outstanding achievements of our 2014 award winners, who are making incredible strides to improve care delivery. The individuals and organizations recognized today all have one thing in common— they all go above and beyond to ensure a superior patient experience," said Ryan. "At Press Ganey, we continue to be inspired by our clients as we partner with them to support their efforts to reduce patient suffering and deliver more patient-centered care."
The Press Ganey National Client Conference draws more than 2,500 health care executives, physicians, nurses, and other professionals from across the country to learn and collaboratively explore paths to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of care. This year's theme, "At the Center of Care," recognizes the importance in redesigning the health care system around the needs of the patient.
