Press Ganey Expands Services to Support Hospice CAHPS Reporting
Patient Experience Leader Approved to Administer Hospice CAHPS
BOSTON, Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Press Ganey today announced it has been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to administer the Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey. As the nation's leading patient experience company and CAHPS data submitter, Press Ganey's addition of Hospice CAHPS further complements its comprehensive suite of patient experience solutions across the continuum of care.
Hospice CAHPS was developed by CMS to collect and share benchmark quality and performance data for Medicare-certified hospice facilities nationally. Beginning in January 2015, Medicare-certified hospices with more than 50 annual decedents must participate in a "dry run" with an approved Hospice CAHPS vendor for at least one month during the first quarter of 2015 (January-March). Continued monthly administration of the survey will be required beginning on April 1, 2015, and non-compliance will impact up to 2% of hospice providers' Medicare annual payment update.
Press Ganey's comprehensive Hospice CAHPS program extends beyond regulatory requirements and enables providers to identify additional performance improvement opportunities to reduce patient suffering and deliver more patient- and family-centered care.
"As the leading patient experience company and largest CAHPS data submitter in the country, Press Ganey is uniquely positioned to support hospice providers in meeting CMS mandates," said Joe Greskoviak, President and COO, Press Ganey. "Equally important, we understand that patient suffering impacts both family and loved ones as well. It is our mission to reduce suffering across the health care continuum, and we are proud to partner with hospice organizations to deliver more patient- and family-centered care."
For more than a decade, Press Ganey has worked with hospices to assess the experience of patients receiving care as well as the perspectives of the patient's caregivers. As with its other CAHPS offerings, the company's Hospice CAHPS program is supported by an in-house public reporting and policy department, robust online reporting capabilities and a dedicated advisor that works with clients to drive performance improvement.
