Press Ganey Appoints Ted Kennedy, Jr., Health Care Strategist, Thought Leader and Attorney, to Board of Directors
Health Care Advocate Brings Unique Perspective to Leading Patient Experience Firm
BOSTON, March 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Press Ganey, the leading patient experience improvement firm, today announced the addition of Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy, Jr. to its Board of Directors. Kennedy brings a unique perspective to Press Ganey's Board as both a long-time advocate for affordable health care in the U.S. and for the civil rights of persons with disabilities.
"We are thrilled to have Ted join our Board, as the depth of his health care knowledge and legal expertise will offer invaluable insight to our work with provider organizations," said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO, Press Ganey. "As a champion for the health care needs of the disabled and an advocate for the Affordable Care Act, Ted understands the important role of the patient experience, particularly during this pivotal time in our country's health care system."
As a leading health care regulatory attorney, Kennedy counsels health care clients at Epstein Becker Green on the legal and reimbursement policy issues and changes facing hospitals, post-acute providers, government and commercial insurance entities, and life sciences companies. Prior to joining Epstein Becker Green, Kennedy co-founded and served as president of the Marwood Group, a health care-focused strategic advisory and financial services firm. Under Kennedy's leadership, the Marwood Group advised many of the nation's foremost health care companies, institutional investors, and trade associations. He previously served as a lawyer at a New Haven, Connecticut law firm and as the Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs at the Connecticut Hospital Association.
"I have admired the work Press Ganey has been doing for a long time, as there is nothing more important in our health care system than making sure that the voice of every patient is heard and that the needs of patients are being met," said Kennedy. "The company's mission of alleviating suffering by improving the patient experience aligns with my personal goals for our country's health care system and I am eager to contribute to this great organization."
Kennedy has also been an active leader in the movement to expand opportunities for persons with disabilities. He advises employers about how to create and enhance such opportunities, and serves on the boards of numerous disability advocacy organizations. Kennedy received an undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University, a master's degree from Yale University's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and a law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Health Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.
