Press Club Journalism award recognizes the best work on aging

WASHINGTON, March 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Press Club journalism contest offers an award for the best journalism from 2018 on aging.

The Joseph D. Ryle Award for Excellence in Writing on the Problems of Geriatrics rewards top reporting on aging. Named after Joseph D. Ryle, a longtime National Press Club member, the $750 award honors excellence and objectivity in coverage of the problems faced by the elderly.

To apply, please submit one article or a series of no more than five articles on a consistent topic that appeared in either broadcast, a general circulation newspaper or an online journalism site last year.

The deadline to submit entries is April 15, and the contest is open to Club members and non-members. Submissions are free for Club members, $60 a piece for non-members. Entries may be submitted online or mailed. Go here for instructions.

The Club's annual journalism contest offers awards in a variety of categories including breaking news, political writing, the work of young journalists, best uses of online journalism, issues involving the treatment of animals, humor writing, photography, foreign affairs and consumer news.

The winners will be honored at a dinner at the Club this summer.
