WASHINGTON, June 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Thair Phillips, President of the 400,000 senior-citizen-strong group RetireSafe, updated his announcement regarding a special RetireSafe House Press and Staff Briefing to discuss a critical reform measure and its impact on America's seniors. The Briefing is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30th in 2253 Rayburn House Office Building. The Press and House Staff are invited and the Briefing is open to the public.
Confirmed speakers include Congressman John "Jimmy" Duncan, Jr. (TN-2) and Economist Donald J. Bruce, Ph.D., from the University of Tennessee's Center for Business and Economic Research and Department of Economics in Knoxville. Dr. Bruce will present his new study regarding the Consumer Price Index and its important relationship to older Americans.
Congressman Duncan is the lead sponsor of H.R. 5305, the CPI for Seniors Act, and is now serving in his 12th term in the House. The lead cosponsor, Congressman Daniel Lipinski (IL-3) has been invited to speak, and Congresswoman Marcia Fudge (OH-11), and Congressmen Michael Arcuri (NY-24), and Gregg Harper (MS-3) have also been invited to speak.
Groups expected to participate in the Briefing include: the National Association for Uniformed Services (confirmed to speak), Vietnam Veterans of America, the National Caucus and Center on Black Aged, Inc., the National Hispanic Council on Aging, and the Men's Health Network (confirmed to speak). RetireSafe Foundation is also expected to participate.
