WASHINGTON, March 5, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National League of Cities (NLC) today announced that President Barack Obama will address city leaders gathered for NLC's annual Congressional City Conference Monday, March 9th at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington.
Since the very beginning of his Administration, President Obama has been a close friend and ally of America's cities. Through local/federal partnerships and numerous joint initiatives, he continues to recognize the critical role municipal governments play in promoting economic development, building transportation infrastructure, protecting the health of our residents and improving the lives of our young people. ABOUT THE CONFERENCE: President Obama speaks at the opening general session of NLC's annual Congressional City Conference, which gathers more than 2,000 officials and delegates from cities and towns across the country to advocate for city priorities with Congress and the Administration. NLC's 2015 federal advocacy priorities include: supporting online tax fairness, investing in transportation and infrastructure and protecting municipal bonds. Many city officials attending the conference will also participate in a town hall conversation about race, equity and the role of city leaders.
