ATLANTA, Jan. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Franchise opportunities are growing at Primrose Schools®, a high-quality early education and care provider with more than 290 schools across the country that are independently owned and operated. The company experienced record geographic expansion last year, opening schools in six new states and officially expanding its footprint coast-to-coast.
This strategic growth included opening 19 new schools and awarding 45 franchise agreements, leading to a 13.5 percent increase in overall system revenue in 2014 over 2013. In addition, the premier preschool company plans to open its 300th school – Primrose School of Brookhaven – in Atlanta this spring, marking another major milestone for the franchise brand.
"The fact that we're opening our 300th school in our home state on the heels of such a rapid year of growth sets the tone for 2015," said Jo Kirchner, president and CEO of Primrose Schools. "We are in the business of serving families and communities nationwide – forging a path to a brighter future for all children – and we invite entrepreneurs seeking impactful work to join us on this mission."
Preschools and early education programs are growing across the country. According to Entrepreneur, children's franchises were among the top five growing franchise industries last year. Demand for high-quality day care for preschool-aged children continues to increase as well.
According to data published last November by industry research firm IBISWorld, the economic recovery will greatly benefit the now $48 billion child care industry as parents and guardians rejoin the workforce and disposable income increases allow families to spend more on high-value services such as early education programs. This trend isn't expected to end any time soon; IBISWorld predicts the child care franchise industry will continue to grow at an average annual rate of 2.6 percent to $54.5 billion by 2019.
Not only are parents investing more in their children's early education and child care, but educated and passionate entrepreneurs are seeking more meaningful and rewarding franchise opportunities, including opening early education and child care schools. According to Forbes, more than 4.5 million people ages 50 to 70 are already in encore careers that combine personal meaning, continued income and social impact and 88 percent of millennials are seeking work with a greater purpose.
Recognizing these trends, Primrose plans to continue its momentum by awarding more than 45 franchises and opening 30 new schools in 2015. The company has identified the following markets for immediate expansion due to strong demand for high-quality early education, entrepreneurial interest and available land:
- Chicago
- Boston
- New York City/Northern New Jersey
- Baltimore
- Philadelphia
- Los Angeles
- San Francisco
