Prem Rawat Welcomed Back to the Italian Senate
ROME, Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Approximately 200 people attended an event to hear about the impact of the 2011 EU Parliament Pledge to Peace, known as the Brussels Declaration. They heard the keynote speaker Prem Rawat, an international advocate for peace, speaking about the social benefits of peace, at the Palazzo Giustiniani, home of the Italian Senate. The audience included Senators, Ministers, Members of the Italian Parliament, and Ambassadors as well as prominent Italian actors, local students, and journalists.
Hosted by the President of the Italian Senate, Senator Renato Schifani, prominent attendees included Emilio Colombo, Lifetime Senator; 1st Vice-President of the European Union, Gianni Pittella MEP; Andrea Riccardi, Minister for International Cooperation and Integration; and Marco Rossi Doria, Deputy Minister at the Ministry for Education, University and Research.
These distinguished guests were joined on the Speaker Panel by actress and singer, Paola Lavini, and TV talk-show host, Michele Mirabella, both reciting quotes on the topic of peace.
This is the second time Prem Rawat has been invited to speak at the Senate, the first being in April 2007.
Mr. Rawat was given a citation appointing him Ambassador of Peace for the Brussels Declaration, The Pledge to Peace, for which The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) was a founding signatory in November 2011.
After speaking to the assembled audience for 20 minutes, Prem Rawat was invited to meet students in the Sala dei Presidente with the Honorable Gianni Pittella MP to respond to questions.
