This free educational conference, sponsored by the National Rural Health Association and the National Rural Accountable Care Consortium, will bring together experienced rural ACOs from new participants and potential applicants. Participants will learn the basics of ACO participation -- including positive and negative effects on budgets, staffing, billing, and utilization. They will learn about policy issues that must be addressed to fix unique rural issues and the potential risks and benefits of the ACO program, waivers and access to claims data to your health system and your community.
According to National Rural Accountable Care Consortium founder Lynn Barr, "Some 59 critical access hospitals participated in the Medicare Shared Savings Program in 2014. This number will more than double in 2015, representing more than 10 percent of all rural providers including rural health clinics, PPS hospitals, FQHCs and independent physicians. Rural leaders should attend the Rural ACO Summit to determine whether they can or should join an ACO to keep current with national healthcare trends and to better serve their communities."
