Preger Entertainment Captures "Altered"
Author Jennifer Rush's YA/Sci-Fi Thriller Book Series
LOS ANGELES, May 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Producer Michael Preger and Co-Producer Jillian DeFrehn ("Vampire Academy") have announced the acquisition of all motion picture and TV rights to author Jennifer Rush's "Altered" series (Little, Brown and Company), a trilogy of three novels and three e-novellas. The author's six figure Publishing deal for the series had previously sold at auction and was her first published story, followed by the middle grade series "BOT WARS", which had sold in a pre-empted deal to Dial Books (written under the pseudonym J.V. Kade). Dennis DeFrehn ("Twisted Tales") will serve as Production Executive on the project for Preger Entertainment.
"What is unique and intriguing about "Altered" is that the story intricately weaves together two very popular genres in today's market. It's YA Romance wrapped around a contemporary and gripping Sci-Fi thriller set in a world of human genetic enhancements and memory replacement — heralding an age of bio-weaponry" comments Preger.
"Altered" follows a group of teenagers unwittingly recruited as subjects in a clandestine "government sponsored" experiment to transform them into the world's first Super-Soldier's. The characters emerge in constant conflict with who they are and who they were and must eventually rely upon their enhanced fighting and survival abilities to discover the truth.
The deal was negotiated by Wayne Alexander of Alexander, Lawrence, Frumes & Labowitz and Laurence Becsey from the Intellectual Property Group, representing the producers with Pouya Shahbazian ("Divergent") on behalf of New Leaf Literary & Media and Melissa Rogal of Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Adler & Feldman, representing the author.
