The U.S. equity market rebounded on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, after falling sharply in the previous trading session as some solid U.S. economic data lifted market sentiment. All three benchmark indexes pared most of their losses from previous trading sessions as investors digested better-than-expected economic data which overshadowed concerns over a liquidity crunch in China. Stocks also gained as comments from some Federal Reserve policymakers eased concern over the central bank's bond purchase program. The S&P 500 rose 0.95% on Tuesday. The basic materials sector ended mostly higher, tracking gains in the broader market. The major movers in the sector included Praxair Inc. Shares in Praxair Inc. ended slightly higher on Tuesday, tracking gains in the broader market. The company's shares traded between $113.82 and $114.99 before finishing the day at $114.39, up 0.25%. A total of 1.11 million shares were traded which is below the daily average volume of 1.21 million. However, despite the gains on Tuesday, Praxair's shares are down 1.69% in the last three trading sessions. In the last three months, the stock has gained 2.01% compared to a gain of 2.34% in S&P 500. Stillwater Mining Company's stock rose sharply on Tuesday, reversing some of its losses from previous trading sessions. The company's shares ended the day 3.18% higher at $10.37 after oscillating between $9.93 and $10.51. A total of 2.13 million shares were traded which is above the daily average volume of 1.71 million. The stock is now down 3.08% in the last three trading sessions. Shares in Enbridge Energy Partners L.P. moved higher on Tuesday, reversing all of their losses from previous two trading sessions. The company's shares hit an intraday high of $29.68 before ending the day 1.62% higher at $29.45. A total of 1.00 million shares were traded which is in-line with its daily average volume. Enbridge Energy Partners' shares are now up 0.07% in the last three trading sessions. Further, the stock is still trading below its 50-day moving average. Celanese Corporation's stock also rose on Tuesday, reversing some of its losses from previous trading sessions. The company's shares traded between $43.71 and $44.49 before closing the day 0.98% higher at $44.12. A total of 978,749 shares were traded yesterday which is slightly above the daily average volume of 928,024. However, despite the gains on Tuesday, Celanese's shares are down 5.16% in the last three trading sessions.
