Praxis EMR Among First to Apply for HITECH Certification
CANOGA PARK, Calif., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Praxis EMR has submitted its application to the Drummond Group, making it among the first EMRs to apply for HITECH certification in the country. Under the ARRA legislation, medical practitioners can receive up to $65,000 in federal incentives if they can demonstrate "meaningful use" of a certified EMR product. The Drummond Group is authorized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to test and certify EMRs.
"We are excited about the direction the government is taking with regard to certification," said Praxis CEO Richard Low, M.D. "The Meaningful Use rules the HHS has published are reasonable and focus on product usability. This is important because I believe poor usability explains why doctors have been hesitant to adopt EMR technology to date. At Praxis, usability has always been a core requirement, which is why our EMR uses free text rather than templates."
Praxis' unique approach has earned it a loyal following numbering in the thousands and spread throughout the country, as well as high marks among medical practitioners. The latest EHR User Satisfaction Survey by the American Academy of Family Physicians ranked Praxis #1 in the area of Quality Medicine.
