Practising Law Institute's 43rd Annual Institute on Securities Regulation, New York City, November 9-11, 2011
NEW YORK, Oct. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Practising Law Institute (PLI) will hold its 43rd Annual Institute on Securities Regulation on November 9-11 in New York City at the Hilton New York Hotel. Over 1,000 securities law practitioners will gather to examine the many changes in securities regulation and corporate law and practice in the current environment. The program will be Co-Chaired by Steven E. Bochner of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Stanley Keller of Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP and Colleen P. Mahoney of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. The Institute will also be offered via Live Webcast across the country and internationally.
PLI and the program Co-Chairs have worked to make the Institute reflect and address the changes we have seen in the past year and those we will see in the coming year. The Institute's focus will be on the practical considerations attorneys must think about and how they can and should be practicing law in today's rapidly changing and unprecedented environment.
"Our panels will provide you with expert and practical advice with respect to the most timely and challenging issues of the day, including dealing with recurring disclosure problems, SEC priorities, shareholder relations, new challenges confronting IPO issuers, Delaware law developments, and cutting-edge issues in enforcement, private securities litigation, and accounting. We are extremely proud of our program this year and believe you will find it to be invaluable guidance as we head into 2012." Steven E. Bochner
PLI's Annual Institute on Securities Regulation has been held for over four decades and is the leading conference in the field, each year drawing an attendance of over 1,000 practitioners, from the new associate to the seasoned practitioner. The information and insights offered at the Institute are always valuable for those at any and every stage of their career.
"The Institute has been for many years the premier gathering of securities lawyers and is especially important this year because of the dramatic changes we have seen in the regulation of the financial markets and the initiatives under consideration to facilitate capital-raising as part of an effort for job creation." Stanley Keller
At this year's Annual Institute on Securities Regulation, Practising Law Institute will sponsor a scholarship initiative for minority law students in conjunction with the Gunster Law Firm and the Yale Law School Center for the Study of Corporate Law. As such, PLI is awarding twenty scholarships to minority students from local New York City area law schools to attend this comprehensive three-day Institute. The initiative, called "Changing Faces: Creating a Difference in Securities Law", began with Chief Justice Myron Steele of the Delaware Supreme Court, and is developed by securities litigation attorneys Curtis Alva and Linda Conahan from Gunster. The goal is to partner students with Institute faculty to expose more minority law students to corporate and securities law and to network with practicing attorneys. PLI is pleased to play a role in supporting this important mission.
