PPL, IBEW Reach Agreement on New Labor Contract
ALLENTOWN, Pa., June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL) has reached agreement with Local 1600 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union on a new four-year labor contract, the company said Monday (6/21).
The agreement has been ratified by the union, which represents about 3,300 company employees at PPL locations in Pennsylvania. It runs through May 11, 2014.
The agreement provides for wage increases for union employees in each year of the agreement. The contract also makes certain changes in health benefits to help contain the escalation in PPL's costs while continuing to provide excellent medical insurance for both employees and retirees.
IBEW Local 1600 is the largest of PPL's labor unions.
