PowerPhone Utilizes Open API to Revolutionize 911 Dispatch Systems With Seamless Integration
MADISON, Conn., May 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- PowerPhone, a leading provider of 911 call handling protocols, announces an update to its pioneering Total Response® CACH® 5.0 software to include an open API (application programming interface) that will allow for immediate and seamless integration of the software with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems. PowerPhone's Computer Aided Call Handling automates the questioning and information-gathering process on any call. When integrated with CAD through the open API, CACH will allow dispatchers to communicate more accurate information to emergency response teams.

CACH, launched a decade ago, was the first application that provided a front-end for the call-taking process to deliver automation and information directly to the dispatcher. The open API allows the information of the call scripts to be filtered for communication to responders via CAD to speed dispatch recommendations. The specific filtering transmits descriptive vehicle, person or weapon information to support detailed recording.
"PowerPhone is focused on continuously improving its technology, training and protocols to raise the standard of care in the industry. Technology integration is vital when budgets and resources are diminishing. Our software was created to be accessible with any point solution," says Jerry Turk, Vice President, PowerPhone.
In an important advancement, this software update also includes multi-language support that allows PSAPs (Public Safety Answering Points) to align their emergency call response capability to demographic changes. Turk adds, "English is not the primary language in many cities and multi-language functionality will be a necessity as communities become more diverse."
Additionally in this update, a Protocol Builder Mapping tool, which offers a global view of the call protocol to the dispatcher, includes a decision map that can be displayed or printed, and details the recommended steps for both responders and callers. Users also now have the ability to set milestones during the call to capture information and interact with the CAD system seamlessly.
