Powered by PilotFish's Interface Engine, Morrison Healthcare Delivers Superior Service to Hospitals with Its New MyDining Patient Meal Ordering Application
Hospitals on-boarded to benefit from highest quality of patient food service in acute care settings
MIDDLETOWN, Conn., April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied PilotFish Healthcare Integration, Inc., a leader in healthcare integration solutions, announced today that Morrison Healthcare has gone into production with its MyDining application in multiple hospitals. Morrison, a member of Compass Group, is the nation's leading contract food and nutrition service (FNS) serving more than 600 hospitals and integrated healthcare systems throughout the United States. Morrison's MyDining patient meal ordering application is critical to ensuring that the right meal gets to the right patient at the right time in these acute care settings. Allergies, restrictions, and supplements must all be considered when serving the patient. Physician diet orders that are maintained on premise in hospital information systems (HIS) must be transmitted to the cloud-based MyDining platform.
"We were extremely pleased with the high level of service and dedication that the PilotFish team exhibited during this implementation phase," said Mike DeMarco, vice president of Field Systems at Compass Group."PilotFish was a true partner working hand-in-hand with the Morrison team to leverage the PilotFish integration engine solution. Together they built a foundation for a set of high-performance pipelines between HL7-based EMR and registration systems and the cloud-based JSON API exposed by MyDining."
"In acute care settings message delivery is critical. It was gratifying to see how in such a short period of time the two teams were able to implement the solution – guaranteed message delivery using durable, persistent queuing of messages arriving from client sites," said Monika Vainius, EVP at Applied PilotFish Healthcare Integration."Having this capability was crucial to ensuring the reliability of patient dietary orders and safety. Morrison also gained full visibility into any backlog of unprocessed messages as well as the ability to reliably process messages in the event of unplanned system outages or other adverse events."
The high HL7 message volume requirements of Morrison's hospital clients also posed additional challenges. Morrison needed to process messages at rates as high as several hundred thousand messages per hour, so performance was a high priority. PilotFish was able to tune the message handling so that they could be processed at these high rates to meet their requirements.
"We are extremely pleased with our selection of the PilotFish Integration Solution," said DeMarco. "With these successful implementations, hospitals can be assured that MyDining offers the industry the most comprehensive and reliable patient dietary meal ordering system available. It is also scalable to meet any of their requirements."
The Morrison team continues to leverage the PilotFish eiPlatform Integration Engine and the eiConsole for Healthcare IDE to rapidly configure additional interfaces to support their growing customer base.
