Power Home Remodeling "Stands with Alex," Launches Fundraising and Social Media Initiative to Support Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation
Having Raised more than $1.2 million, Power Kicks Off 7th Year of Supporting ALSF
CHESTER, Pa., June 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Power Home Remodeling launched its month-long fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for various forms of childhood cancer, at its annual Alex's kickoff meeting. A complement to ALSF's National Lemonade Days initiative in June, Power will host several events and fundraisers in local communities around the country, from lemonade stands to volunteering at children's hospitals to supporting and engaging local Heroes and families facing childhood cancer diagnoses.
New this year, Power is launching a social media campaign, #IStandWithAlex, that encourages participants to do a handstand, nominate three friends to participate and share their feat on social media with the hashtag #IStandWithAlex, or donate $10 to ALSF at www.IStandWithAlex.org.
"As a company, we continue to be inspired and motivated by ALSF and the incredible heroes and families it supports, so we are proud to launch the 'I Stand with Alex' campaign," said Adam Kaliner, co-Founder of Power. "We hope to use the power of our more than 2,000 employees that truly devote themselves to ALSF's mission to create a viral campaign that honors Alex and raises money to support her vision of a world without childhood cancer. Over the last seven years, we've seen what our people can do--raising more than $1.2 million mostly directly from their own pockets and personal networks--so we have no doubt that they will make this year another success."
The kick-off event, held at the company's headquarters in Chester, Pa. and live streamed to each of the 13 regional offices featured Liz Scott, co-executive director of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation and Alex's mom, to inspire and energize employees around the ALSF mission and formally begin the fundraising initiative.
"We are honored to have Power as one of our Corporate Partners, as that's exactly what they've been for the last seven years--partners to us," said Scott. "Power's 'I Stand With Alex' campaign is a fun, engaging way to raise awareness and funds for ALSF, and having seen what passion and drive Power's people have; I know it will be a success."
ALSF Hero, Cole Patrick Fitzgerald, who was diagnosed in 2007 with Stage IV Neuroblastoma at 3 years old and defied the odds as a cancer survivor, was also on hand to rally Power employees with his rousing speech on overcoming the many adversities he has faced in his life.
"You never know what you can do until you try. I make no excuses, I adapt, I overcome. I had the power to make honor roll, run a 5k and get my black belt in kickboxing," said Fitzgerald. "The question isn't what I will do next. It is what will you do next. Will you make excuses or will you be a super hero?"

About Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra "Alex" Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $140 million toward fulfilling Alex's dream of finding a cure, funding over 690 pediatric cancer research projects nationally.
