Power Home Remodeling Group Raises More Than $13,000 in June During 'Power Month' For Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation
Company successfully completes month-long initiative to raise funds to fight pediatric cancer
CHESTER, Pa., July 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Power Home Remodeling Group, the nation's fourth largest home remodeling company, is pleased to announce the company raised $13,050 during the first annual "Power Month for Alex's" initiative to support Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a leading foundation for pediatric cancer research. To complement ALSF's National Lemonade Days initiative in June, Power hosted a series of events and fundraisers throughout the month within each of the eight markets it offers home improvement services. Since being named a national corporate sponsor for ALSF in April 2011, Power has donated one dollar per window, per square of siding and per square of roofing installed throughout the year, raising more than $221,000 for the foundation to date.
"We are extremely proud of our employees for embracing the ALSF cause by devoting so much time and energy to make a difference through their participation in Power Month for Alex's," says Jeff Kaliner, Power's Founding Partner. "From our employees in Melville, NY, who raised over $1,350 through their office lemonade stand, to the top producers in our Chester, Pa, office who spent their free time hosting stands during weekends in June — our remarkable employees really banded together to spread Alex's story to customers in all eight of the markets we do business."
As part of Power Month for Alex's, employees hosted lemonade stands in the office and throughout their neighborhoods; "canned" for donations at busy intersections in each market; participated in a golf outing and manned the phones at the sixth-annual "Alex Scott: Stand for Hope Phone Bank" a day-long telethon broadcast live on June 7 from the CBS 3 studio in Philadelphia where Power presented a $100,000 check to ALSF. In addition, Power's presence at big-box retailers and home shows throughout June included signage and information about Power Month, as well as an opportunity for shoppers to donate directly to the cause.
Power also hosted several ALSF Hero Ambassador Families at the Power Suite at PPL Park for a fun-filled night of soccer to watch the Philadelphia Union take on D.C. United on June 16. Prior to the game, Power employees hosted a lemonade stand on the stadium concourse.
Power employee Mike DiPietro remarked, "I think it's amazing knowing that our company has had a direct impact on saving the lives of children and potentially others in the future. My younger brother Greg had Lymphoma B of the intestine, got better, and then developed Leukemia of the Bone Marrow when he was younger. He is now 10 years in remission and I must say if it were not for organizations like Alex's Lemonade — and companies and individuals that stand behind them and donate money for research — my brother may not be here with me and my family today."
Power will continue to support ALSF throughout the year with continued donations based on sales and events, including the second annual Power Run 5K for ALSF in October. For more information on Power Month for Alex's, please visit PowerHRG.com or AlexsLemonade.org.
