Power Home Remodeling Group™ Joins the Institute for Economic Development
Founding partner Adam Kaliner will serve as Neighborhood Stabilization Chairman of Chester's premier economic development group
CHESTER, Pa., May 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Power Home Remodeling Group, the nation's fourth largest home remodeling company, has joined the Institute for Economic Development (IED), a consortium of businesses and non-profit organizations focused on the economic revitalization of the City of Chester, Pa. Additionally, Adam Kaliner, Power's co-founder and president, will serve as the Chairman of IED's Neighborhood Stabilization Committee and as a member of the Marketing & Business Development Committee.
The IED is a public-private partnership of major employers specifically committed to undertaking a targeted mix of innovative economic development programs and activities focused on the physical, economic and social revitalization of the City of Chester. The IED is leading strategic efforts to complement the City's aggressive economic development projects including the launch of PPL Park and the arrival of the Philadelphia Union MLS soccer team and Harrah's Chester Casino and Racetrack. Select IED members include Crozer Keystone Health Center, Philadelphia Union, Widener University and Pennrose Properties, LLC.
The IED's major initiatives and focus areas include:
- Promoting a positive business climate in the city.
- Stabilizing neighborhoods and home ownership in the city with employer homebuyer's assistance programs focused on market rate housing.
- Working with the City of Chester on its efforts to improve the visual appearance of its major gateways.
- Collaborating with all law enforcement entities within the city to reduce crime and ensure a safe environment for residents, employees and visitors.
"The IED is excited to add Power as a member. In Adam and Jeff Kaliner we have leadership, energy and enthusiasm of the highest caliber, and they have already demonstrated keen interest in and commitment to making Chester successful," said Mark Dambly, Chairman of the IED. "Their approach to business, product and service delivery — and to being a truly engaged corporate citizen — are entirely consistent with IED's mission and vision. As we move forward in supporting the City of Chester's efforts in economic development, Power will play a key role in making Chester a destination of first choice for business, home ownership, healthcare, education, and entertainment."
Due to Power's tremendous growth, the company relocated its national headquarters in January to the historical Wharf at Rivertown in Chester — ushering in hundreds of new, green jobs locally and nationally. More than 400 Power employees are based at the company's 58,000-square-foot state-of-the-art headquarters. The Wharf at Rivertown is located in a Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ) and has already left an impression on the economy of Chester by bringing 1,200 jobs to a community of just under 40,000.
Adam Kaliner noted, "Power is honored to join the IED — and I'm personally honored to serve on both the Neighborhood Stabilization and Marketing & Business Development committees. We feel very strongly about the IED's mission, and with the opening of our new headquarters, we are looking forward to contributing to the vibrant success and vitality of Chester."
Power is also unveiling its new community relations program called "Power University" in partnership with the Chester Upland School District, Delaware County Community College, Chester Youth Collaborative and the Chester Education Foundation. Launching in September, the program will involve outreach to local Chester youth, providing them with skills-based business and marketing courses and mentorship programs. The program will expose students to real-life business skills that will open the doors to future job opportunities — at Power or whatever field they choose.
John Dixon, the IED's Executive Director, added, "We are thrilled to have Power join the IED. As we move into a new phase of economic development here in Chester, having leaders like Adam and Jeff Kaliner helping craft and implement our strategy will be crucial to the City's success. They have already established themselves as a thriving business committed to helping the local and regional economy succeed. We look forward to their participation and are confident that as Power grows, Chester will grow."
