Potomack Company To Auction Estate Of Novelist Tom Clancy
PROPERTY FROM THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER AUTHOR
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Potomack Company announces the sale from the estate of bestselling novelist Tom Clancy, author of The Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games, including designer furniture, the author's golf cart and memorabilia, at auction on January 31.
Preview of the Clancy items opens at Potomack Company's Old Town Alexandria gallery on Thursday, January 19, offering a close-up view of the author's personal taste and interests along with an opportunity to own an item connected to an American literary giant.
Highlights of the January 31st online sale include a collection of chic modern furniture from Clancy's 80-acre waterfront estate on Maryland's Chesapeake Bay, including a mid-century modern shagreen covered cabinet, a Garrison Rousseau crocodile skin coffee table, a snakeskin topped table and set of cut velvet dining chairs along with the author's golf cart and a telescope he used to view ships and wildlife in the bay from his office window.
Reflecting Clancy's fascination with Cold War martial history is a Soviet era wool military trench coat with insignia.
Clancy, a Maryland native who died in 2013, was internationally renowned for his realistic Cold War-era military and espionage novels that became blockbuster movies and video games. He was also a co-owner of the Baltimore Orioles.
