Porter's Craft And Frame Announces Total Liquidation Sale
REXBURG, Idaho and IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, Feb. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Porter's Craft and Frame (http://www.portersonline.com) in Rexburg and Idaho Falls is announcing that they are closing their stores and will begin a Retirement Sale on Thursday, March 1, 2018. The stores are located on College Avenue in Rexburg and at the corner of Hitt and 25th Street in Idaho Falls. The two stores will be liquidating all merchandise, store fixtures, and equipment. (Porter's Office Products, owned by Mark Porter, is not affected in any way and will continue to operate as usual.)
Owners Chuck and Linda Porter will be retiring after nearly four decades of ownership and community involvement. "We have had a wonderful career experience in the stores and we will miss the personal relationships with associates and customers," says Chuck.
Porter's began as a bookstore that was a sideline to Arthur Porter's newspaper and printing business. Starting in 1916, the business occupied one storefront in the six-storefront building that is now Porter's in Rexburg, with Arthur's other businesses in the back. After World War II, Arthur's youngest son, Warren, bought the bookstore and added a Ben Franklin variety store next door. In the succeeding years, the store in Rexburg expanded and changed its merchandise mix to meet the needs of the community it serves. A craft and fabric store in Idaho Falls was opened in the early nineties by Chuck and Linda Porter. A commercial office supply business was started and then sold to Mark Porter, son of Chuck and Linda.
"It's been a good run," Chuck says, "but I am in my seventies and Linda is somewhere behind that. It's time to retire. We will miss our very good and loyal customers, many of whom have been shopping with us for their whole lives."
Chuck and Linda invite area residents to experience Porter's before the doors close for the last time later this year. "There are not many stores like us anymore. This liquidation is a celebration of everything we have built over nearly four decades."
Porter's Craft and Frame is a 3rd-generation retailer locally owned and operated by Chuck and Linda Porter. Located in Downtown Rexburg and Idaho Falls, they carry a large selection of fabric, crafts, frames, art supplies, toys, and more.
