Porter Wright adds antitrust litigator, bolsters D.C. presence
WASHINGTON, Aug. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Porter Wright welcomes antitrust litigator, Jay L. Levine, as a partner in the firm's Litigation Department. Levine will serve clients from Porter Wright's Washington, D.C., office.
"We are excited to add Jay's extensive experience in complex litigation, particularly with antitrust and consumer protection matters, to our experienced D.C. team," said Rich McHugh, partner-in-charge of the firm's Washington office.
Levine brings to Porter Wright more than 20 years of experience in litigation and antitrust counseling, including advising clients on the full range of antitrust and consumer-protection issues. He regularly represents clients before the Federal Trade Commission, the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice and States Attorneys General in connection with the merger review process and other conduct-related investigations. Levine advises clients in Lanham Act, unfair competition, deceptive advertising and related proceedings in courts and before federal and state regulatory authorities. He has extensive litigation experience in a variety of industries, particularly health care, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and consumer products.
"Porter Wright's expanding antitrust practice, as well as its strength in litigation and stellar reputation, is a natural fit for my practice," said Levine. "I look forward to growing with the firm."
Active in the American Bar Association's Section on Antitrust Law, Levine has served as Vice Chair of its Joint Conduct Committee and as a member of the editorial board for the annual updates to Antitrust Law Developments. He is also active in the Antitrust Practice group of the American health Lawyers Association. Levine has written and spoken extensively about antitrust issues, particularly as they relate to the health care industry, intellectual property, and mergers and acquisitions.
Levine received a J.D. cum laude from Fordham University School of Law and a B.A. from University of Maryland.
Levine is the second litigator to move to Porter Wright's Washington office in the last few months. Steven Taub, also a partner practicing in complex litigation, joined the firm this past spring.
"We have taken advantage of several opportunities to grow our litigation presence in Washington this year, and we look forward to bringing this additional experience to our clients immediately," said McHugh.
