Porter Novelli's Anthony Viceroy Joins Board of Directors of Bob Woodruff Foundation
President and CFO of Global Communications Agency Behind Innovative Twitter-Based Fundraising Campaign to Raise Money for Returning Troops to Join Foundation of Award-Winning ABC News Correspondent
NEW YORK, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Global public relations leader Porter Novelli announced today that Anthony Viceroy, global president and chief financial officer, would join the board of directors of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. The organization, founded by ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff and his wife Lee, a long time agency colleague, is dedicated to supporting injured service members and their families who return from deployment.
In 2009, Porter Novelli donated pro-bono services to ReMIND.org, an initiative of the foundation, to launch the groundbreaking and highly successful Twitter-based fundraising effort Tweet to ReMIND.
"We are delighted to welcome Anthony Viceroy to the board of directors of the Bob Woodruff Foundation," said Rene Bardorf, executive director of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. "We have a long and close relationship with Porter Novelli. Throughout the design and execution of the Tweet to ReMIND campaign, Anthony proved to be an invaluable and enthusiastic champion of our efforts. His contributions were immeasurable, and we are extremely excited to bring his talents and insights to the support of our returning troops. It's not just great news for the foundation. It's also great news for the thousands of military families the Foundation helps."
Founded by ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff, who recovered from near-fatal injuries sustained while reporting from Iraq, the Bob Woodruff Foundation provides resources and support to injured service members, veterans and their families. With a focus on those troops who return from deployment with the hidden injuries of war, the foundation takes action to successfully reintegrate service members back into the communities and families they left to serve. Through ReMIND.org, the foundation strives to educate the public about the needs of service members returning from war and the nation's greater responsibility to ensure they receive the support necessary to successfully resume their lives at home.
"I am honored to be able to a part of the Bob Woodruff Foundation," said Viceroy. "During the Tweet to ReMIND campaign, all of us at Porter Novelli were inspired by the foundation's passion and commitment to our service members and military families. They work tirelessly each day to improve the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for us. I look forward to doing everything I can to support their incredible work."
In addition to being the global president and CFO of Porter Novelli, Viceroy is a senior partner and a member of the executive committee where he helps drive strategic development and ensure delivery of the agency's value proposition for new and existing clients. He heads Porter Novelli's financial and operational groups to support the global focus of driving profitable growth and developing talent. A certified public accountant, Viceroy holds an MBA from Fordham University with specializations in global business management and corporate finance.
About the Bob Woodruff Foundation
The Bob Woodruff Foundation provides resources and support to service members, veterans and their families to successfully reintegrate into their communities so they may thrive physically, psychologically, socially and economically. Through a public education movement called ReMIND.org, the Bob Woodruff Foundation helps educate the public about the needs of service members returning from war — especially the 1 in 5 service members who have sustained hidden injuries such as Traumatic Brain Injury and Combat Stress, including Post Traumatic Stress, Depression and Anxiety — and empowers communities nationwide to take action. Across the country, the Bob Woodruff Foundation collaborates with other organizations and experts to identify and solve issues related to the return of service members from combat to civilian life and invests in programs that connect our troops to the help they need — from individual needs like physical accommodations, medical care and counseling, to larger social issues like homelessness and suicide. In 2008, the Bob Woodruff Foundation invested $3.4 million in community programs, reaching more than 500,000 service members, support personnel, veterans and their families nationwide.
