Porter Novelli Names Paul George Global Director of Health
NEW YORK, Dec. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Global public relations leader Porter Novelli today announced that Paul George has been named global director of health, effective January 1, 2013. In addition to his global role, George will lead the health care practice of the agency's New York office.
"Paul brings to Porter Novelli deep expertise in leading large global teams and navigating the global regulatory environment for clients, as well as driving growth through new and organic business," said Michael Ramah, acting CEO, Porter Novelli. "We are excited to welcome him to our team."
Prior to joining Porter Novelli, George spent the last five years in various roles at TogoRun, most recently as senior vice president and partner. In that role he led integrated, global, multi-office, multi-channel (traditional and online), multi-stakeholder marketing communications programs for blue chip pharmaceutical companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb and Gilead. Prior to that, he spent nearly 10 years with CPR Worldwide / Fleishman-Hillard, both in London and New York, leading internal and external global marketing communications programs for clients including GSK, AstraZeneca, Servier and Sanofi.
"In addition to his outstanding work at TogoRun, Paul was the TogoRun representative of an Omnicom initiative to identify and participate in integrated new business pitches in the health care space," added Karen van Bergen, senior partner, managing director, Porter Novelli New York. "As more and more clients look to holding companies to create multi-agency marketing partnerships, Paul's experience will be invaluable as we build the cross-border, cross-discipline solutions that clients need to grow their businesses.
"We are especially grateful to the leadership of both TogoRun and Fleishman-Hillard for making this a seamless transition. We look forward to the impact he will make on our clients and our talent, and the partnerships he will build throughout the network," van Bergen added.
George has experience in several therapeutic areas including cardiology, CNS, infectious disease, oncology and respiratory. He earned his BSc Hons in biological science in a dual university program from La Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain) and The University of East Anglia (UK).
"Porter Novelli offered a tremendous opportunity for me to take the reins of a health care practice with a proven track record of establishing and growing relationships with health care brands and their stakeholder practitioners, advocates and patients," said George. "Their rigorous adherence to highly-targeted analytics and creativity, as well as their proven expertise in advocacy, market access communications and health policy enables Porter Novelli to achieve transformative results for its clients. I am delighted to join such an impressive team."
