Porter Novelli Names Darlan Monterisi Managing Director of New York Office
NEW YORK, Jan. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Global public relations leader Porter Novelli announced that Darlan Monterisi has been named managing director of Porter Novelli New York, replacing Karen van Bergen who was recently named CEO of the company. Monterisi joined the agency in 2011 as an executive vice president to lead the HP business.
"Darlan has demonstrated tremendous leadership in managing and growing our relationship with HP across the globe," said van Bergen. "She has done so through a commitment to extraordinary client service, to leading and nurturing large teams across multiple geographies, and to having a keen eye for the programming and content that will convert consumers into advocates. These are exactly the skills that will serve her well in growing our flagship office."
Monterisi offers more than 17 years of experience overseeing U.S. and global communications and public affairs programs. Prior to joining Porter Novelli, she was the global PR director for Rockstar Games, conceiving, developing and executing integrated communications programs for such brands as Grand Theft Auto IV and Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Before that, she was an account director with Mullen, working with clients including the Department of Defense, BBN Technologies, H&R Block, Embarq and Wachovia. Prior to that, Monterisi served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, working as a public affairs officer providing strategic public affairs guidance to top Marine commanders and serving as a spokesperson for the First Marine Expeditionary Force in Fallujah, Iraq during Operation Vigilant Resolve in 2004. Earlier in her career she held in-house roles in the entertainment and sports medicine industries.
"I am honored to lead Porter Novelli's largest office," said Monterisi. "The New York team has a long and proud history in consumer marketing, technology, health and wellness, food and corporate communications. I am looking forward to working closely with Karen and the entire Porter Novelli leadership team to grow that expertise even further, and ensure that we provide the people, services and offerings that will take our clients and their businesses to a place greater than they thought possible."
