NEW YORK, Dec. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Global public relations agency Porter Novelli received three distinctive honors at yesterday's PR News awards luncheon: the agency was honored as a standout workplace; CEO Karen van Bergen was celebrated as a top leader in the industry; and Meghan Kidd, vice president, was recognized as a rising star.
Top Places to Work
In recognition of its workplace culture, benefits and high employee engagement, Porter Novelli was named to PR News' Top Places to Work list for 2015. Companies are judged on factors including growth and development opportunities, internal communication, management diversity, advancement of women, bonus incentives and volunteerism opportunities. PR News called out Porter Novelli's talent initiatives including a new performance management system, and its employee communication efforts, including quarterly town halls and opportunities to interact with senior leadership in its commentary on the winners.
"I'm so proud to share this recognition with the entire Porter Novelli team," said van Bergen. "We are committed to making Porter Novelli a destination for the very best talent in the industry, and every single employee plays an important role in that. I'm inspired by what we've accomplished so far and we continue to aim even higher."
PR People Hall of Fame
Karen van Bergen, CEO, was honored with induction into the PR News PR People Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame recognizes pioneers in public relations who have demonstrated outspoken leadership in the industry and left a lasting mark. Van Bergen, a 30-year industry veteran, has served as CEO at Porter Novelli since 2013. Prior to that, she was senior partner and senior vice president at FleishmanHillard and global lead for OneVoice, a consulting team serving Royal Philips Electronics. She also served as regional director for the Netherlands, Central and Eastern Europe. Before FleishmanHillard, van Bergen served two stints with McDonald's totaling more than 13 years. Van Bergen serves on the board of the PR Council; is a founding member of Omniwomen, which aims to increase the influence and number of women leaders throughout the Omnicom network; and was named to the PRWeek Power List in 2013, 2014 and 2015. She was recently recognized as a 2016 "Woman of Influence" by the New York Business Journal.
Rising PR Stars 30 & Under
In addition, Meghan Kidd, vice president in the agency's Atlanta office, was recognized as a Rising PR Star 30 & Under. This award honors budding PR leaders and creative practitioners who are making a big impact at a young age.
"These awards are a testament to the great work we are doing at Porter Novelli and all we have accomplished together," said van Bergan. "I look forward to moving the needle even further for our team and clients in 2016."
