Porter Novelli Appoints Phil Buehler Executive Vice President/Global Director of Strategic Planning
NEW YORK, July 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Porter Novelli has named Phil Buehler executive vice president/ global director of strategic planning. In his new position, Buehler will lead Porter Novelli's award winning analytics teams and report to Michael Ramah, senior partner and chief client officer.

Previously, Buehler was chief strategy officer at Hudson Rouge, a New York-based integrated agency that he helped establish in 2011 under Team Detroit. At Hudson Rouge, Buehler helped set the brand strategy for the re-launch of the Lincoln Motor Company through an innovative white-space analysis of the broader luxury goods market.

Prior to founding Hudson Rouge, Buehler was head of planning at OgilvyOne from 2010-2011 and chief market scientist at Havas from 2007-2010. Before joining Havas, he was director of account planning at McGarryBowen. He also served for four years as senior vice president/ director of brand strategy at Y&R Brand Asset Consulting and was Wunderman's executive vice president, director of strategic planning & analytics.
A recognized thought leader, Buehler is best known as one of the pioneers of ethnographic research in advertising and is one of the original architects of Y&R's Brand Asset Valuator study. A prolific speaker who has presented at AdTech, AppNation and the 140 Character Conferences, among others, Buehler also produced the first TEDTalks on CD and is founder of TEDxChelsea. He is a member of the board of Momenta Art.
An author, runner and recognized photographer, Buehler's latest book Woody Guthrie's Wardy Forty: Greystone Park State Hospital Revisited recently won prestigious PDN and Foreword Reviews awards for best photo books of 2013. He credits his artistic interests with helping him stay ahead of the curve in digital and social media. Buehler holds a BA in mathematics from Rutgers University, an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts.
