Nixon was tapped by Bob Stull, CEO of PLG, to augment the company's asset-based trucking presence in key gateway cities with a multi-mode, nationwide transportation capability.
"Our vision of providing complete gateway logistics services to our customers includes final-mile delivery to DCs, retail stores and end consumers," said Stull. "We can now offer high-quality national transportation, as well as meet the quarter- and month-end surge needs of our retail client base."
Prior to joining PLG, Nixon led the brokerage division at Hub Group, a national provider of brokerage and intermodal transportation services. His transportation industry career includes various operational, sales and sales management positions at both Hub and Roadway Express.
"I'm excited to join the PLG team," said Nixon. "In an import economy, transportation from major gateway locations to domestic customers is a dynamic and growing market, and I look forward to providing a full range of transportation services to PLG customers."
PLG has recently invested in upgrades to its transportation management system to support third party transportation operations. The system will provide a single platform for carrier management, transportation planning and execution, and visibility for all PLG service locations.
