Pop Sensation Britney Spears and NBA Star Lebron James Strike Up Competition in the Third Round of the Celebrity Bowling Hall of Fame Tournament
Week Three Kicks Off With Few Celebrity Fan Favorites Still Standing as Votes Continue Pouring in at www.GoBowling.com
ARLINGTON, Texas, March 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Bowling fanatics are continuing to show an outpouring of support by voting daily on www.gobowling.com for their favorite stars as the third week of the annual Celebrity Bowling Hall of Fame voting continues. This year's competition has "pinned" star against star in a bracket-style tournament where fans determine who will progress to the next round. The remaining competitors have all endured fierce showdowns – some in neck-and-neck battles, while others had landslide victories. The "legacy" portion of the bracket has received an overwhelming amount of fan support for "The Dude" (Jeff Bridges who starred in the cult bowling movie favorite "The Big Lebowski"). But it's still anyone's game as "McCracken" fans (supporting Bill Murray of "Kingpin") rally in hopes that their favorite bowling icon's chance at the "legacy" win doesn't end up in the gutter. Fans can continue to vote daily through April 10.
As newcomers to the bowling scene, Kathie Lee Gifford & Hoda Kotb have held on after two rounds of competition continuing to come closer to receiving a coveted spot in the Celebrity Bowling Hall of Fame. To make it to this level of the competition, "Today" show hosts and queens of the lanes Kathie Lee Gifford & Hoda Kotb defeated mega heart-throb Justin Bieber last week in an unlikely matchup. This week, they are up for another challenge against "The Voice" co-host Christina Aguilera who last week defeated NASCAR superstar Jeff Gordon in a knock-down drag-out fight for the finish line.
The second round of the competition also saw two well-known and respected NBA and NFL athletes go head-to-head. While Tim Tebow dominated headlines as his trade to the New York Jets was finalized, his devoted fans and followers fell short in their support of his battle against NBA icon Lebron James for the chance to be named this year's inductee to the Bowling Celebrity Hall of Fame. This week's matchup has the athlete going up against megastar Britney Spears who scored a strike against fellow multiplatinum music superstar, Drake where she captured music fan's love and the greatest amount votes in their showdown this past week.
All of this week's nominees are still in the running for the chance to be named this year's winner, and have all had a part in popularizing and supporting the sport of bowling, helping to make it the number one participatory sport in America.
