Pontotoc County Habitat for Humanity to Receive $20K Grant from Six Banks

PONTOTOC, Miss., Nov. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pontotoc County Habitat for Humanity will be awarded a $20,000 Partnership Grant Program (PGP) check on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) and five of its member institutions: BancorpSouth Bank, Renasant Bank, First Choice Bank, Bank of Pontotoc, a division of Oxford University Bank; and Woodforest National Bank. The Habitat affiliate will use the funds to prepare land and establish water and sewer services within its subdivision, Circle of Hope.

"I just can't thank everyone enough," said Danny Park, executive director of Pontotoc County Habitat for Humanity. "Because of this grant, we are able to start two needed homes." The rural Habitat affiliate has been building one or two homes per year since its inception in the mid-1990s, according to Mr. Park.

PGP awards provide grants up to $12,000 to community-based organizations (CBOs) that may be used for research, organizational capacity-building, grant- and funding-application assistance, or contractual services. PGP funding allows FHLB Dallas member institutions to make a contribution to a CBO of $500 up to $4,000, which FHLB Dallas matches at a 3:1 ratio.
